2025 CEF Annual Leaders Retreat: June 9-12, Bend, OR

Dollar Tree
Announced a new goal to achieve net zero by 2050 in its 2024 Sustainability and Social Impact Report. The company also established several interim targets aligned to SBTi’s near-term guidelines. These include committing to: reduce Scope 1 and 2 absolute emissions by 50% by FY2032 (FY2023 baseline); have 67% of suppliers by emissions set or commit to science-based aligned targets by FY2029; and continue to advance the transition to renewable energy sources for its stores, distribution centers, and store support center.
Signed a first-of-its-kind deal to purchase carbon removal credits from direct air capture (DAC) provider Holocene. Google will purchase credits for 100,000 tons of CO2 at $100/ton, the lowest price on record for a DAC project. It will provide financial support upfront, with delivery of credits in the early 2030s. Microsoft
Purchased over 234,000 Rainforest Restoration Carbon Removal Credits from Toroto, a nature-based solutions projects developer in Mexico. The project, located in Southeastern Mexico, will focus on ecosystem restoration alongside the landowners living in the project area, while sequestering carbon. PR »
Unilever
Announced that it aims to have 300 suppliers in its Supplier Climate Programme by the end of 2024, three years after the program launched. These key suppliers add up to about 44% of the company’s Scope 3 emissions and will have shared their Product Carbon Footprint data with Unilever by the end of September. PR »
